Olivet University’s extension site in Washington, D.C. will offer two courses for the Spring 2026 term: Old Testament III and Pastoral Ministry, providing students with both biblical depth and practical ministry training.
BIBL501 Old Testament III will examine Israel’s canonical prophets, from Isaiah to Malachi, focusing on their role as divine commentators on Israel’s life and worship from the 15th to the 5th centuries B.C. and beyond. The course will be available both onsite and online and will be taught by Dr. Sarah Lafleur.
"Attention will be given to the historical contexts in which the prophets ministered, as well as the literary forms and theological themes present in their writings,” said Dr. Lafleur.
MINS750 Pastoral Ministry is designed to integrate biblical and theological study with hands-on ministry practice. The course aims to cultivate Christian maturity by equipping students with both knowledge and experience. Instruction will include the roles and responsibilities of pastors, as well as training in conducting key elements of church life such as worship services, Holy Communion, baptism, marriage ceremonies, infant dedication and funeral services in accordance with church tradition. The course will be taught onsite in Riverside, CA by Dr. Bethany Park and Washington D.C.’s location by Dr. Sarah Lafleur.
Students are encouraged to approach the Spring term with prayerful anticipation, seeking both academic growth and deeper spiritual formation through their studies and ministry practice.
