New Campus Already Bustling with Students

August 02, 2012

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. – The 2011 fall term is here on OU’s newly acquired campus in Scotts Valley, Calif.

Though many signs on campus still bear the name of the school that previously occupied the 74-acre space, Olivet’s presence is clear.  Students from San Francisco have been trickling in over the past two months along with international students from away as far as China, Thailand, the Czech Republic, and South Korea.

“We feel blessed to have facilities available to our incoming students that can enhance learning, foster fellowship, and serve as a seedbed for missions around the globe. The university is also grateful for the blessings the warm welcome that the city of Scotts Valley has extended to us,” commented Nathanael Tran, OU Dean of Administration.

Aside from classes, many students have also been actively involved in helping to clean up the campus, serving as volunteers for special on-campus events, and joining local church congregations in worship and in service.  Since Olivet officially acquired the new campus late August, many within the Scotts Valley community have expressed their joy and excitement in seeing the area come back to life.

In the coming months, the Scotts Valley campus will see even more activity, especially as preparation of the campus picks up pace and the number of special onsite events increase.

Work, meanwhile, is still underway for the university to make a complete transition from San Francisco to Scotts Valley.  Presently, Olivet has students on both its main campus in San Francisco and the new campus in Scotts Valley.  In the very near future, however, the Scotts Valley campus will become Olivet’s main campus.
